The first grade magistrate court in Ntcheu has granted bail to twenty three parents and learners of Kabwazi primary and community day secondary schools, who were arrested on Monday for blocking the M1 road at Bawi during demonstrations against the ongoing teachers strike.

First grade magistrate Chrispin Sachuluka granted the bail on conditions that two sureties for each of the 23 suspects pay ten thousand kwacha cash, bail bond which they all reportedly paid.

They all pleaded not guilty to a charge of endangering safety of persons travelling by road, and will reappear before the same court on Wednesday June 28, 2017 for further hearing.
