The Malawi Olympic committee on Saturday donated 125 bags of cement towards the construction of panels on a fence at Balaka stadium that demolished by heavy rains and some for improvement of drainage system at Kamuzu stadium.

Malawi Olympics committee Treasure general Henry Sakala told Zbs that this has been possible with 20million kwacha donation from international olympics committee.

Sakala said apart from the sports sector, the donation reached out many other flood victims in nine districts.

“Other officials are in the other flood affected districts with different relief items,” said Sakala.

DC for Balaka Rodrick Mateauma commended Malawi Olympic committee for the donation saying it is timely.

Mateauma said it has been the council’s wish to see the construction work completed before the onset of the super league games so as not to lose revenue.

75 bags of cement were donated to Balaka stadium while 50 were donated to Kamuzu stadium for rehabilitation of the drainage system.
