One of Malawi’s leading mobile phone operators TNM has revised upwards Blackberry (BB) internet subscription by over 150 percent effective March 25, 2015.
TNM is sending text messages to all its customers on the same.
The message reads:- “BB tariffs effective 25 March 2015 are: BB Complete monthly: K8,000. BB Complete weekly: K2,000. BB Social monthly: K5,000. BB Social weekly: K1,500. TNM”
After removing BB daily subscription, some TNM BB customers opted for weekly subscription that is currently at K700 complete and K600 social.
First to revise BB tariffs upwards was Airtel Malawi.
BBC recently reported that the average Malawian spends more than MK5400 (US$12) a month. That’s more than half the average monthly income in Malawi.
Proportionate to earnings, Malawi has the most expensive mobile phone rates in the world.
