Balaka district council has assured investors that the district’s economy is fast growing saying is conducive for any type of investment.
Chairman for Balaka district council Patrick Botomani said the district’s town is a business cross roads connecting almost all cities in Malawi.
“Our town is well positioned as it easily connects all cities and town on top of the railway line” said Botomani on Friday when Opportunity bank officially opened its sales office in the district.
He added that the coming of several banks in an area translate to development.
Botomani commended Opportunity bank for its sales office and agent concept which he said saves time whenever people want to open an account, deposit and withdraw their money.
Opportunity bank chief operations officer Wilson Moleni said the sales office will only allow people open bank accounts and apply for loans, but not make deposits or withdrawals.
He said deposits and withdrawals will be made at its agents already conducting businesses in almost all the country’s trading centres, so as to avoid inconvenience.
“We have already opened about ten sales offices countrywide and plan to open such facilities in all busy trading centres to save the time and cost customers spend travelling to towns,” said Moleni.
