DHB sisters have defended their title as champions for Presidential cup netball league, since it was established about five years ago.

They smashed Phalula Dynamos by 36 goals to 11 at Balaka stadium on Sunday.

Victoria fletcher led the team as captain for DHB sisters supplying the passes that saw her sister Olivia scoring more of the 36 goals.

Coach for DHB sisters Maness Kasambwe said:-” There is no team that can stop us in Balaka. We are going to th regional level, and we will do more than good.”

Coach player for the losing side Chifundo Walumbe said it is high time DHB join top leagues and create room for the upcoming teams.

Balaka district sports officer Lucy Munthali however condemned the criteria used in selecting the teams that participated.

She said one aim of the cup is to unearth raw talent and it was surprising that most school teams were not involved.

“We will make sure that next time, the selection criteria meet all the requirements,” said Munthali.

DHB sisters that went home with a trophy and 100 thousand kwacha first prize, will battle it out at southern regional level whereby each district will field a team.

Runners up Phalula dynamos carted 75 thousand Kwacha, third placed Phalula sisters 50 thousand kwacha and 30 thousand kwacha for Mang’omba that ended at fourth place.
